sunday snap #39.

i took this pic before i went to ibiza, i promise i am a lot tanner

#1. I've been planning on camping with my friends somewhere later on in the year, or glamping for those Essex fans. Since we got back from Ibiza we have become so much stronger as a group which I'm surpirsed to say. I know that sounds sad but before we went away on holiday there were unspoken about issues but I really think that week away has made everyone grow up and know that it is okay to actually confront each other about this. Communication was seriously lacking in our group before now, but that has changed dramatically and I'm so glad that it has! We've all been friends for almost 10 years, knowing each other since way back in Year 7 at high school - that's an achievement itself - and to lose that friendship because of tittle tattle would have been a shame. I'm so glad it didn't happen! Anyway, if anyone can let us know some great sites, then drop me a comment or a message because I'm looking forward to it!

#2. I went to see Harry Potter this week with my Mom and I have to say it's really sad how the whole thing has come to an end. My entire childhood was Harry Potter and the books... My Mom would buy me the children's covers and the adult covers and now when I look back I laugh slightly because at the time I didn't really appreciate it... It's the end of an era. When I was watching the final premiere I actually cried when Emma Watson spoke her speech. I just think what's going to fill in that gap now because really Twilight doesn't even come close!

#3. Deactivating Facebook, good idea/bad idea? When I was away in Ibiza I was literally without my iPhone, something that I thought I could never really do but I did it. I was away from a computer and more importantly Facebook. Facebook really is the thing that causes drama between friends, with indirect status and comments it can be incredibly horrible. Sometimes I think I really don't have time for it, life is about enjoying experiences, making the most of what you have and driving for more and petty comments are just for kids. Ironic really considering you have to be an adult to sign up for an account.

#4. I've been reading The Virgin Lover by Philippa Gregory this week and I have to say I really love the story, so much so that I haven't been able to put it down and I've virtually finished the book. This summer I set myself some goals, or should I say this year rather, one of them was to up the amount of books that I read. As a media student I think that my range of vocab always needs to be pushed and what better way to improve than through reading? I wanted to read at least fifteen books this year and so far I've read six or something like that and we're more than half way through the year... I'm just going to keep going and hopefully get to my target. Anyway, the book is awesome, and I find myself loving it even more so because The Tudors are one of, if not my favourite, period of history.

#5. I'm actually quite shocked at how filled my sunday snap is this week... The amount that I have written is a lot more than I usually do... Most of the time posts on sunday are boring or filled with 'me, me, me' content. Since I've gotten back from Ibiza I've been trying to fill my time because I want to go back there so much so I'm trying to busy myself... Expect more posts like this, hopefully anyway.

my week in pics #9.

#1. Turquoise armour.
#2. Nail art.
#3. Catching up on blogs.
#4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows p.2
#5. Me.
#6. Loving The Virgin's Lover by Philippa Gregory.
#7. Watching old The Hills episodes.
#8. Reminiscing on Ibiza times.
#9. Spending way too much money on books.

AW11 trends #4: pencil skirts

Black Skirt
Grey Skirt
Camel Skirt
Animal Print Skirt
White Skirt

This trend has the chance of looking too office like, so you could always be daring enough to throw a band t-shirt into the mix and wear ballet pumps on the bottom for something that is chic but edgy all at the same time.

wednesday wants #12 - wet look leggings.

Wet look leggings are without a doubt not to everyone's tastes but when put together in the correct way you can create a perfect evening or daytime look.

wet look leggings
coral top
wedges
gold earrings
black clutch

Up to date sleek offers a smart outfit with a twist, the leggings here give a contemporary edge to a usually office or date night branded look. The black palette allows the spotlight to shine on the coral shirt which is a wanted blocking colour of summer.

wet look leggings
denim shirt
straw hat
boots

I have to say I am completely in love with these boots and if I had enough money I would buy them (maybe I can twist my Mother's arm into getting them for my 20th in November) because they are just perfect! By contrasting day denim with night accessories (i.e. the boots) you have the easiest transition of a day to night oufit. Lose the hat and drop a couple of buttons for a casual club outfit.

wet look leggings
grey camisole
black tuxedo jacket
white scarf

This outfit was very Cheryl Cole inspired considering I'm pretty sure she had worn something very similar. The outline of the jacket sits perfect against the leggings making it appear to be an up to date suit look. By keeping accessories to a minimum, the neutral palette looks classic even with the daring items and fits perfectly into the AW11 fetish trend without being too OTT.

sunday snap #38.

too lazy to take a new picture... dealwithit.

#1. So the past couple of days (since I arrived home) I have been doing pretty much nothing! I'm incredibly lazy, somehow I've managed to get back into my working out regime thingy majiggy haha! I don't know how considering I've been on holiday for a week and done sweet FA! That appears to be becoming the story of my life recently and I'm okay with it I think!

#2. I have read One Day again... Honestly the book is so good! I know that they have made the book into a film, and it's mean to be released on 19th August... I have to go and see it... I cannot wait to see how Jim Sturgess plays the character Dex(ter)! I'm not going to give anything away about the book or the film, but seriously I was so hooked on these characters that the end made me feel cheated. I know I was most likely delirious because both times of reading it I stayed up until the early hours of the following morning because I just can't put the book down when I start reading it, anyway I was so cheated that both times I felt myself staring at the page and re-reading the lines over and over with my mouth hanging open. /ramble over. The whole point of that ridiculous sentence/paragraph was to say that I really hope the film does the book justice! Fingers crossed.

#3. I am ridiculously obsessed with Ed Sheeran, especially his song called "You Need Me, I Don't Need You". I've had it on constant repeat since I got it. It's really nice to see rising British talent.

#4. I don't want to end this week's sunday snap on a downer but I can't not mention the killings in Norway and the death of Amy Winehouse. Both things are so sad and shows how vulnerable people are in such a scary place that is the world. I want to send thoughts and condolences out to the loved one of everyone who died tragically and those close to Amy Winehouse.

AW11 trends #3: colour

Mustard Jumper
Purple Bow Shorts
Maroon Maxi Skirt
Teal Clutch
Red Jacket

It is refreshing to see something other than black and netural based, tonal colours, for AW11. You can never go wrong with a splash of colour during the dreary months, and sometimes the boldness of colour is the only thing that is needed to brighten up your day. Key tip: Invest in accessories this some more so as they can be brought back out in the darker months.

ibiza wears #1

day outfit (left): kaftan: peacocks, swimsuit: next, shorts: next
night outfit (right): shorts: matalan, vest: topshop

Just thought I would bring you guys a small holiday section of what I wore whilst I was away. I haven't took pictures of everything, but hopefully some of you get the idea of things that I like to wear. These outfits were the first and second/third day of the holiday (I forget oops!) and I have to say I really love the outfit on the right. I ended up tucking the vest top into the shorts because it gave a better silhouette.

I'll take this opportunity to try and put some stories up from the holiday. Has anyone ever come across Lucky Lucky Men? They are the most annoying people I have ever come across. Obviously they have to be eye catching in order to sell the items that they have but they just began to piss me off by the end of the week I had in Ibiza with my friends. They would constantly say things that did not make sense like "BUY NOW PAY NEXT YEAR" or "CHEAPER THAN ASDA PRICE". Me and my friends just ended up taking the absolute mick out of them!

wednesday wants #11 - leather jacket.

leather jacket
skinny jeans
white vest
converse

Casual is sometimes the best way to be chic. Denim and leather are a match made in heaven and this look is something that you could throw on and still look your indie best. Now all you need is a hot rocker boyfriend with a motorcycle and you're a living cliche.

leather jacket
floral dress
patchwork bag
gold sandals

Alexa Chung eat your heart out! Complete opposites of harsh leather with floral prints isn't a match made in heaven but they sit together so perfectly. Keep your hair loose and you're onto a winner!

leather jacket
denim short
cream vest
sunglasses
doc martin

This is my absolute favourite look for this post. There is just something about it that screams cool and I knew that I would look like such an idiot wearing this but I can't help but dream. I think it's the Doc Martins that make it what it is, because they are so different and scream being unique. I don't see many people wearing them at all now, and I think it takes a lot of confidence to do so, maybe someday. Be a Coachella reject, go on!

AW11 trends #2: beautifully boyish bows

Red Shirt
Cream Shirt
Black Shirt
Gold Bow
Black Bow

A celeb favourite and seen on the likes of Khloe Kardashian and Alexa Chung, bows and bow ties are an AW11 trend than can update and old item of clothing into something so fashionista without the price tag. Paired with a structured high waisted skirt of pair of palazzo trousers and you'll be the office style queen in no time!

welcome home.

Hello, hello, hello. I'm back and all rested up and ready to get back to blogging. I've prepared some posts that are ready to go that revolve around Autumn and Winter 2011 fashion trends (as you saw whilst I was away). They'll be a regular occurrence. Other than that I have some holiday outfits and photos that I want to post from my time in Ibiza. Everything that's going to be in the blog is going to be behind until I'm updated.

Also I have been checking out my stats and they are far higher than I could ever imagine which is pretty awesome. Sometimes I don't think certain things get read on this blog but people actually are reading. It's really nice to know! So... Hiiiiiiii! I hope everyone has had a great week I can't wait to get back to blogging and actually get some outfit posts up because they have been lacking big time, also to tell you about Ibiza (which was amazing!).

AW11 trends #1: wild things

*THIS IS A SCHEDULED POST, I AM ON HOLIDAY IN IBIZA*

Orange and leopard shirt
Bag
Maxi Skirt
Belt
Leopard Shirt

This trend is one of those can either work really well or go drastically wrong. Personally I think in order to make this work, and so that you don't look like Bet Lynch, you're best by taking a pinch of the print look and weave it through colour blocking of the neutral kind.

wednesday wants #10 - collared dresses.

*THIS IS A SCHEDULED POST, I AM ON HOLIDAY IN IBIZA*

Taking inspiration from this mondays post I decided to take the summer collared dresses trend and throw together my three usual looks in order to give an idea in how this trend can be taken and worn. Now this is only an idea, hopefully something that will help any of you reading this, but you can completely take all of what i write or just a small amount and put your own twist on it.

ASOS Filigree Feathers Drop Earrings £8.00

collared summer.

*THIS IS A SCHEDULE POST, I AM ON HOLIDAY IN IBIZA*

Geek chic is what everyone wants and fashion is definitely no different. It love affair with vintage silhouettes has been given the a-list seal of approval so you know what that means, it's time us common folk grab it too. Whilst suggested we embrace 70s flare before shifting into 60s autumn swing, the style-savvy of us have already injected a twist and swept across the board into our wardrobes and made collared summer dresses the essential in day-to-night wear.

Unlike the celebs, Alexa etc, who opted for the likes of Louis Vuitton, the second-hand rails are most likely full of dresses of the same shape and structure. They look particularly sleek when styled with a modern edge mannish brogues and round sunglasses to give a cool, hipster vibe with a twist.

saturday snap #37.

#1. IT'S FLYING TIME!!!! I actually can't believe how quick the Ibiza 2011 holiday has come around.... Honestly. I fly out at midnight tonight (saturday) so I'm cheating when I write this. I hate flying. HATE IT. I don't know why we chose to fly out at that time but we have done and I know I'm going to regret it but hey-ho. I cannot wait to get my tan on!

#2. I've done three posts for the blog in the week... Only three scheduled ones... I know it's cheating but I really won't have any internet at all. It's going to be quite strange but just what I need.

suit you shades.

The sun is shining so that means one thing it's time to dust off the sought after accessory of the warmer months - sunglasses! There’s no better time than right now to revisit a few styling tips to ensure you’re sporting the most flattering pair of shades for your face.

wednesday wants #9 - the crop top.

Hey there.... Here's another one of my trusty wednesday wants. This week I'm talking about the crop top something that can be favoured in the up coming summer months. Now the term crop top instills fear in anyone and everyone especially when it comes to baring that dreaded midriff. However like everything out there in the fashion world there of course ways in which we can skim around the trouble areas and throw it together with items that mean barely any skin, none at all, has to be shown off. This week because lack of time I've only gone for two looks, day and night wear, hopefully that is okay and gives you enough of an idea!

#1. NAVY DECKCHAIR STRIPE CROP VEST £16.00
#2. YELLOW SEVEN EIGHTHS BIKER SKINNY TROUSERS £38.00
#3. beige double belt trilby hat £16.99
#4. gold diamante sandals £26.99

I love this day outfit because it's a twist on classic. Being bang on trend with the colour blocking brights with cuts of clothing that appear to be falling into the classic category you get a two in one here. I love the idea of carrying this outfit through to the night with the change of accessories and by slipping on a pair of wedges you're onto a winner!

#1. LIZARD GREEN SEAM DETAIL BRA TOP £16.00
#2. BLUSH PLISSE MAXI SKIRT £48.00
#3. black jelly wedge shoes £49.99
#4. silver look bead and charm multirow necklace £9.99

By keeping the base and whole idea of the outfit as neutral this day look is something that could be wore time and time again by mixing and matching the pieces with separate items. The maxi skirt is a favourite of mine as pleats are cute with class and by throwing in a crop top you're showing enough skin for summer without being too OTT.

my week in pics #8.

#1. My luggage.
#2. Kodak moment.
#3. Skins - Chris was such a great character.
#4. CM Punk you ledge.
#5. Hello, is me you're looking for?
#6. Love these two books. Read them both in 24 hours.
#7. RIP Ryan Dunn.
#8. The lake a walk away from where I live.
#9. RAVE ON.

sunday snap #36.

#1. This week I've been doing my last minute things for my holiday like getting my sun tan lotion and panicking like crap. I'm usually on top of everything but I just haven't been so this holiday and it's not 100% my fault but sometimes I can quickly become one of those people who follows... So basically a sheep. I never used to be like that but that part of me has changed and I'm slowly trying to undo it because it's a trait that I really don't like. I mean essentially if you continue doing it you sort of lose yourself don't you? I've still got to get small stuff like an adapter but other than that I'm pretty much there!

#2. The weather has been amazing. Honestly, all I've been doing if not on the computer is sitting in the sun and trying to catch a few rays. Of course I'm doing it safely but it's been nice to go out and sit in beer gardens and just have fun etc... I mean this is what summer is all about, relaxing and enjoying stuff as much as you can!

#3. How funny is Bridesmaids? I have a movie/cinema week this week and watched a lot of films. First it was Fathers of Daughters with Ray Winstone which was a good storyline, then Morning Glory because Rachel McAdams is ridiculously stunning and Bridesmaids. I was laughing so hard at the beginning in particular, especially the speech part, it had me in stitches! I love going to the movies but being a poor student sometimes means I don't get the chance, other than Orange Wednesday's because I'm super cheap.... Oh well we're in a recession people! Haha!!

#4. Job hunting is becoming a complete and utter fail. I mean I was going to apply to work for Next in their Summer Clearance but I'm on holiday. The whole job front thing is beginning to annoy me somewhat, I mean it's not like I don't want to work, I want to get out of the house so much but everything involves money so I look at jobs and find that I'm either not qualified or I'm on holiday or whatever else... Basically there is always something stopping me. It's annoying!!!!

#5. This time next week I'll be in Ibiza.... Ahhhhhhh!
