suited short.

Traditional party attire appears to have taken a twist. Most fashion-forward stars have started to ditch the glitzy dresses, worked on their already slender pins and slinked into stylish cocktail shorts. More often than not paired with a crisp blazer and some dazzling accessories, a modern take on YSL effortless girl-meets-boy vibe is hot stuff. Contrasting tailored looks paired with easy relaxed loose hair and natural make-up, this is evening wear with a considerable difference. Looks like the fan tan needs to be bought in abundance as we embrace the cocktail shorts and modernise wardrobe staples channelling a polished, simple yet seemingly thought expensive look...

sunday snap #35.

#1. Excuse the crappy photo this week I just couldn't be bothered to snap any sort of portrait to go with this post. I feel like this week I haven't actually been myself... I seem to have lost a lot of motivation yet I keep going... Essentially I feel like I'm running on empty. Not good considering I'm going holiday in a week or two.

#2. The blog broke 10,000 views this week which is pretty sweet! It's not a lot but I didn't introduce the page counter for quite sometime so to know that I'm into five figures is nice... Hahaha!!

#3. Posts are definitely going to slow or come to a halt even. I know I'm not going to be updating whilst I'm in Ibiza (I may do some pre-posting and put them on a self-timer but I'm not 100% sure yet?) due to the fact that I'll be computer free and most likely iPhone free. Yeah, that's right, I'm going back to my old Sony Ericsson just so I can text my family to let them know I'm okay etc... It's going to be so hard considering I live on my phone but I just want to have fun out there, get a tan and make the most of the time that I have got there with my friends.

#4. Completely hooked on KUWTK (Keeping Up With The Kardashians) again! Like I said trash television runs my life but I absolutely love watching that family.... The clothes alone can be considered a reason that I tune in, I absolutely love their style... If only I had the bank balance to match and I'd be in heaven!!

#5. I changed my workout this past two weeks and have noticed the difference in my body. It's so nice to get out clothes that I wanted to fit me by the time I got to my holiday and slip them on like a glove. Sometimes when you look at your body all the time you don't notice change but when you try on clothes or have compliments it gives you that extra push to keep going. Happy!

SWIMWEAR SUPREME.

Considering most people will be going on holiday in the next two/three months I decided to pick three of my favourite swimsuits in the high street right now. I've chose the top three figures that I think women are most likely to have and chose one item that would suit and make the most of what you've got!

#1. bikini top
bikini bottoms

Pear shapes are most likely to be bigger on the bottom and smaller on the top. By wearing a darker colour on the bottom you take the emphasise away from there with the attractive colour popping leading the eye to your smallest point. By wearing and opting for high waisted bottoms you make the most of what your momma gave ya without making it look bigger, which is of course a no-no for anyone.

#2. coral heart trim cutout swimsuit

The up and down shape of a model mean that you are most likely able to wear any form of swimwear without feeling conscious. This cut out once piece emphasises your slim pshyique whilst keeping you on trend perfectly.

#3. black shape enhancing bandeau swimsuit

Most likely to not have a waist, apple shapes hold most of their weight around their middle and abdomen, by opting for this classic black swimsuit with ruching you will not only look sophisticated but slimmer with the shaped fabric effectively achieving a slimmer shaped waist appearance.

wednesday wants #8 - the little denim dress

Denim is one of those things that never really goes out of fashion. With the whole revival of 70s fashion in full swing enter the denim dress. The last time I personally wore one of these, I must have been no older than eight, and more than ten years later the item is back with a vengeance. The dress I'm style this week is this one from Miss Selfridge.

1. Miss Selfridge Denim Placket Dungaree Dress £36
2. River Island White Boyfriend Shirt £21.99
3. RIver Island Black Leather Faux Crocodile Print Bag £39.99
4. River Island Black Ballerina Jelly Pumps £14.99
5. Topshop Stone Encased Stud £4
6. RIver Island Grey Ruffle Ankle Socks £3.99

When I styled outfit one I knew straight away what I was going for and that's Alexa Chung. You'd have to be blind to think otherwise considering this outfit screams all her. It's classic style with an edgy twist which I personally love. By throwing structured items of a blouse and monochrome you have something that works wonders against the blue of denim without look too school girl.

1. Miss Selfridge Denim Placket Dungaree Dress £36
2. Miss Selfridge Rust Kimono Sleeve Cardi £42
3. Miss Selfridge Yellow Leather Satchel £22
4. Miss Selfridge JAKE Tan Leather Moccasin £32
5. Miss Selfridge Gold Teardrop Pendant £14

Sometimes keeping it simple works. A denim dress is basically an outfit on its own and by sticking a classic coloured cardigan which can be pair with even more classic colours of gold and tan you're onto a winner. I have to say I really like this satchel, it's definitely the stand out piece for me on this outfit, contrasting perfectly with the maroon and complimenting the tan with the detail edging to match.

1. Miss Selfridge Denim Placket Dungaree Dress £36
2. Topshop Green Picnic Check Roll Sleeve Western Shirt £28.50
3. River Island Light Brown Western Ankle Boots £64.99
4. Miss Selfridge Loops On Slinky Bracelet £7.50
5. Topshop Natural Straw Plaited Trilby £22

Outfit three is my take on western chick, its up to you whether you want to be a rebel one by wearing the shirt outside the dress or underneath to be a goodie two shoes. Immediately when I think denim I think checked shirt so I had to throw one into the mix somewhere and here it is. Stick a pair of cowboy-esc boots and you're good to go!

sunday snap #34.

eww!

#1. I hope you're liking my lack of makeup picture... Sometimes I wonder whether people think those who do posts like this on a blog are vain. I'm no way vain, to be perfectly honest I don't think I have a lot to be vain about, so you can cross that thought off you're list straight away.

#2. I'm finally, properly, home and I'm loving it. Caught up with some television, had a chance to use photoshop considering I didn't have to on the computer I had with me and replied to emails etc... I've been super busy with last minute things for my holiday to ibiza... I sorted out insurance finally, I'm trying to get last minute clothes sorted, I've got a new suitcase to take things in and I don't think I've got a lot more to do other than change my monies.... It's all happening so fast!

#3. I'm so desperate to have photoshop on my computer that I downloaded a thirty day free trial. I've been like a maniac on the thing, creating lots of different picture posts for the blog in advance before it runs out. So annoying!

#4. Went out friday and actually had a blast... Sometimes you can't beat a cheap night out at all... Sometimes you can.

#5. I don't have much else to blog about this week considering I actually haven't been doing a lot. Before my battery runs out I'll peace out. Ciao for now!

LADYLIKE LACE.

Popular amongst autumn/winter fashion last year, when fashionista fell for lace, this trend appears to have carried on through into spring/summer however this time it's taken on the lighter colours with it. The romance of lace, alongside flirty, bright and bold colours has completely revamped the trend.

1. Miss Selfridge BLUE LACE PLEAT SKATER DRESS £45.00
2. Dorothy Perkins Coral one shoulder lace dress £25.00
3. New Look Influence Collared Lace Dress £24.99
4. River Island navy floral print shorts with lace edging £19.99
5. Topshop MUSTARD CONTRAST LACE SHIRT £28.00
6. Oasis Lace Pencil Skirt £55.00

wednesday wants #8 - the white t-shirt

Considered a staple in anyones wardrobe, the white t-shirt is something that can easily be thrown on and often look effortlessly chic. With summer upon us, long should be gone the drab black of autumn/winter and out pops the colour or light neutral palette. Little tip: make sure when wearing this shirt that underwear is nude/skin colour. A common mistake amongst those of us out there is to wear white underwear but this is not the case - we don't want a case of flashing. A big no-no!

1. Topshop WHITE ROLL SLEEVE FLECKED TEE £15
2. Topshop CORAL ZIP SIDE CHINOS £38
3. Topshop GAMBLE2 TAUPE SUEDE SLINGBACK PLATFORM SANDALS £65
4. Topshop SCALLOPED SUEDE CLUTCH BAG £48
5. Topshop SEMI PRECIOUS CHUNK RING £12.50
6. Topshop IRREGULAR SQUARE STUDS £5

I have to say outfit #1 is a look that I adore and by far my favourite. It's so simple yet so chic that it look effortless. By breaking up the t-shirt with colour you don't look too boring whilst staying on trend with classic items. The scalloped clutch bag is definitely something I am going to treat myself too, I like it so much! I just don't know what colour, probably play it safe with a nude colour for the summer. The reason I was so not money conscious when styling this outfit is because all the pieces are ones that can easily be tucked back into your wardrobe and never really go out of fashion. A good pair of trousers is something that one always needs in their closet and playing safe with black isn't always the way forward.

1. Topshop WHITE ROLL SLEEVE FLECKED TEE £15
2. H&M Maxi Skirt £12.99
3. Topshop HIPPO MULTI SWIRL SANDAL£28
4. Topshop BLACK LEATHER FRINGED BACKPACK £80
5. Topshop NATURAL CUT OUT FLOPPY HAT £22
6. Topshop BLACK ROUNDED FLAT TOP SUNGLASSES £18

H&M are perfect for finding items that are bang on trend but are friendly to the purse and pounds. Outfit two I can definitely see a holiday outfit, thrown on in morning and easily worn whilst checking out some sights. I am so tempted to get a maxi-skirt myself, I have quite a few maxi-dresses but for me skirts are so much more versatile in that you can get away with wearing them more than once. By slipping on a straw hat and pair of sunglasses you're set for the day!

1. Topshop WHITE ROLL SLEEVE FLECKED TEE £15
2. Topshop MULTI BLOCK STRIPE BLAZER £65
3. Topshop MOTO VINTAGE WASH TWISTED SEAM BOYFRIEND JEANS £40
4. Miss Selfridge MAMBO WHITE LEATHER LACE UP £32
5. Miss Selfridge LINKED BAR BRACELET £16.50

When styling outfit #3 the look I was going for was boyfriend with a twist. By tailoring against the looser fitted jean you are getting a balance of top and bottom, contrasting yet fitting each other perfectly. This outfit to me is ideal for a lunch date, dressed up without being to OTT. By keeping jewellery simple, the key piece here, which is obviously the jacket, gets it time to shine and does so with sitting perfectly against it's neutral white.

NEUTRAL NEED.

1. Stella McCartney nude 'Carrington' flat sandal £355
2. Topshop PEACH SMALL FLAT TOP SUNGLASSES £16
3. Miss Selfridge NUDE SKINNY BOW BELT £6
4. River Island beige leather tote bag £69.99
5. Bottega Veneta buttermilk suede shoe £365
6. Zara STAR PATTERN SCARF £19.99

missguided social style

Missguided is one of those online boutiques that I've heard about but never properly browsed. When I heard about the social style event that is currently being hosted by them on their Facebook page for bloggers I decided that there would be no harm in having a browse.

I have to say that they host a great amount of different styles that are not only incredibly beautiful but also super inexpensive so they won't hurt the bank balance. I think I may even go as far as to say I've spotted some key items that I'll be buying for my trip to Ibiza in one month's time. Anyway the idea of this item is to create a look showcasing what you deem as the 'perfect look' for a Summer event. Here are my three attempts:

get the look!
ANNIE LACE SMOCK DRESS IN CREAM
JOEY CORAL BEAD DROPLET EARRINGS IN GOLD
HAILEY STRAPPY SUPER HIGH WEDGE IN RUST

get the look!
THERESE WRAP OVER PLAYSUIT IN ROYAL BLUE

MARIETTE CROSS OVER STRAP PLATFORM WEDGES IN BLACK
JENIFER PADLOCK & KEY SNAKE EFFECT STACHEL IN RED

sunday snap #33.

#1. I think I may have I figured out how to work this BlogPress application. I don't want to get ahead of myself but fingers crossed it's all good. Pictures ma be a little bit of a barsteward but maybe I've got the art if personal blogging without a computer down.

#2. Some idiot ran into the back of my Mom's car this week so we currently have a temporary one. I have to say it's so nice to have a newer car - the new car smell inside is to die for... Haha! Hopefully this gives my Mom that last push to get a new car like she's been saying she will do for the last six months. Finally.

#3. My holiday is like one month away.... Argh! It's so close now. I cannot wait to get some sun especially with all the rain that we've been having!!!!! It's driving me crazy the whole getting ready thing though.... I feel like I have so much stuff left to do but not enough time and dramas with certain friends don't help either. Honestly I feel like I'm stuck when it comes to the whole thing.... Ugh frustration!

#4. Completely converted my best friend and made her a fan of Made in Chelsea. We watched this weeks episode on Monday and she's been catching up on the previous episodes that she has missed. She's completely hooked on the whole Spencer and Caggie thing, as am I... She was like "OMG THIS PROGRAMME IS FUCKING EPIC!!!!" - woo hoo! Don't think I've quite converted her to be TOWIE fan just yet, but there's still time.... -evil laugh- Mwahahahahaha!

PALAZZO PANTS.

Fashion is shifting into 70s femininity after minimalism was seen throughout. That means that wide-legged, almost skirt-like palazzo pants are the order of the day, or should I say season. So if you're looking to create a softer, more fluid silhouette this spring and summer then ditch those skinny jeans and head towards the tailored, yet baggy styled pants that suit any style and budget.

Designer

1. MM6 BY MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA SUPER WIDE LEG TROUSER £210
2. Sportmax yellow silk palazzo pants, £310, at My-Wardrobe
3. Marc Jacobs palazzo pants, £520, at Browns

High Street

1. Oasis wide leg crepe trousers, £50
2. River Island spot print palazzo pants, £34.99
3. Miss Selfridge black high waisted palazzo trousers, £42.00

wednesday wants #7 - high waisted shorts.

Popular amongst festival goers high-waisted shorts definitely make the most of what you momma gave you but clingy to womanly curves perfectly. Celebrities all around are seen wearing the things, throwing them together in easy, vintage inspired ways with leather jackets and their favourite pair of converse and if not that they are dramatically dressed up with a certain buzz, especially by those eccentrics out there!

1. Oasis 50s Pin Up High Waisted Shorts £35
2. Oasis Cape Sleeve Poppy Print Top £42
3. Oasis Janena Toepost Sandal £35
4. Oasis Lace Trim Trilby Hat £16
5. Oasis Ellie Lace Vintage Sunglasses £16

I have to say the cape sleeve top has to be my favourite item of clothing in this outfit. It's such a classic item in the terms of how it can be dressed up down, but the added print gives the piece a one-off twist. I can definitely imagine this outfit being seen at Coachella festival considering I've teamed it with sandals rather than wellies - we all know how rainy it gets here in Britain, on maybe the older woman. I say that because it's revealing without being too revealing. The main focus here, thanks to the high necked top, would be the showing legs. Time to get working on those squats ladies!

1. Forever 21 High Waist Floral Shorts w/ Belt £16.80
2. Forever 21 Classic Oversized Shirt £19.80
3. Forever 21 Polyester Rose Front Pumps £19.75
4. Forever 21 Embossed Snake Skin Clutch £14.75
5. Forever 21 Arrow Pointed Earrings £3.90

The focal point of this outfit is most definitely the shorts, by giving them a black, neutral palette to sit against the pattern and vibrance only strengthens the item. I'm not too keen on the belt that is given so I would probably change that for a thin, black patent one, the type that you can buy from Primark for as little as one British pound as it would tie the outfit together nicely.

1. Love Label High Waisted Plait Detail Shorts £35
2. Love Label Printed Batwing Blouse £25
3. Love Label Sanderson Heeled Western Ankle Boots £40
4. Love Label Rose Gold Bracelet Watch £43
5. Lipsy Flower Garland Headband £8

Like the first outfit this is again another twist on the many different ways in which high waisted shorts will be presented at festivals this year. I could definitely see someone like Pixie Lott in this outfit, maybe thats down to the floral headband that I added, but this outfit definitely fit into the 70s style fashion that has made a reoccurrence into SS11 fashion.

up in the air.

Just thought I'd post a blog explaining why things might seem unfinished when I first post them. I currently don't have a computer and I'm posting this via BlogPress App on my iPhone. The reason for this is I'm at my friend Erica (pictured) aunties house, house sitting for her whilst she's in France. Posts that I'm talking about in particular will be "sunday snaps" which will have pictures but no written body. That is unless I get to grips with this application. I hope you all understand. Thanks.

sunday snap #32.

#1. Traditional sunday snap blogpost at your service once again. Not that I have much to really update anyone on or anything. Bank holiday weekend is just spent like every other weekend, nothing done what's so ever other than catching up on TV.

#2. How gorgeous is Garry "Gaz" from Geordie Shore? Seriously gorgeous! That makes me sound like such a shallow person but I'm just saying it how it is. But honestly I feel that trash tv is going to be the death of me considering it's all I watch. Completely and utterly. My Sky planner consists of Living TV's The Hunks, Geordie Shore, Made In Chelsea.... It's just badddd.

#3. This week and last (and probably longer) I have to say I've found the news about the super injunction involving Imogen Thomas and He-Who-Shall-Be-Named-Even-If-He-Shouldn't-Be hilariously funny. How every single newscaster has gone out of their way to fit the footballers name into sentence deserves a round of applause. As far as I'm concerned the guy had it coming to him, the way Imogen was hung out to dry was just terrible. Clearly he is the walking definition of what goes around comes around.

#4. I think I've actually finished clothes shopping for my holiday now.... Finally. I've spent way too much stuff but any excuse for something new i guess. I really cannot wait considering there is only 5 weeks or so to go until I'm in Ibiza! I really need the hot weather.... All this constant change and mood swings as I like to call it of British weather is ridiculous... So annoying!!

#5. I passed my first year of uni.... To be honest I have been crapping myself when it comes to results but the ones I got back I'm pleased with. You know, I put a lot of pressure on myself and sometimes I set the bar a little too high, but in all honesty I'm proud of myself and I've just got to keep going whilst trying my hardest always!!!

Saturday Style Steal #6

This week's saturday style steal goes to Mischa Barton.

Mischa takes a key trend of colour blocking and wears it well either matching other items or keeping them tonal in order to compliment the bright red shorts. I'll have to be honest when I say I'm not usually a fan of her style because to me she often screams too "try hard" and I don't like that. However this outfit is easy to steal and not only ticks the box for being bang on trend but does so without having to feel uncomfortable whilst doing so. Just be prepared to get to the gym and work on those pins.

wednesday wants #6 - kimono.

Whilst arguably not a key trend of this summer oriental fashion appears to have popped up all of a sudden and is everywhere on the high street. However when embarking on this trend one could easily take it a little too far and become a rip off geisha, maybe a tanned version. High street stores have focused on the kimono shape, and jackets are flying off shelves due to the ways in which they can easily be thrown over an outfit to update it. I've chosen to show how this item of clothing can not only be worn casually, but incorporated into a night out and update a boring office suit.

TOPSHOP
1. Red Floral Paisley Kimono £42
2. White Ribbed Vest £6
3. MOTO Vintage Wash Baxter Skinny Jeans £40
4. VIBRANT Yellow Ballet Pumps £16
5. Smooth Metal Bend Drops £8.50

This is how I would imagine wearing a kimono, casual with a favourite pair of jeans and white vest. Such a classic outfit with a twist - rather than a blazer. The floral pattern that is found on this Topshop blazer is daring without being brash. By balancing it out with a bland pallet allows the light to shine on the key piece, whilst by picking out the yellow from the jacket and matching it to the shoes the whole outfit completes a full circle without being too matchy at the same time.

MISS SELFRIDGE
1. Feather Print Kimono £38
2. Black Viscose Vest £12
3. Black 80 Denier Tights £6
4. Black Sequin Knickers £25
5. WILLOW Black Tie Up Wedge £50
6. Gold Twist Hoops £6.50

Probably way too daring, the black palette of the main body outfit allows the fresh blues of the kimono time to shine. Most likely I would never wear this but I would look on in envy at girls who actually could pull of those sequin knickers.

RIVER ISLAND
1. Black Kimono Jacket £39.99
2. Brown Peg Leg Trousers £29.99
3. Cream Polka Dot Blouse £26.99
4. Beige Slingback Court Shoes £44.99
5. Brown Leather Square Faux Reptile Bag £39.99

A kimono is something that could easily update a traditional office suit. The contrasting of the different shades complete and round off the outfit whilst the different textures, namely the crocodile bag give depth. A nice tan belt could help keep this outfit more structured when stuck around the waist to sinch it in and balance out the peg-legged trousers and loose jacket.
