roll with it.

When it comes it up-dos this season it appears the simplicity (or just plain laziness) has taken charge. A touch of balletic was see on Chloe's runways, whilst Costume National's gave a far more masculine take using gel to give that guy edge. The top knot, twist, bun, whatever you want to call it is no longer favoured by stereoytped white trailer trash but more for the fashionistas who just can't take their flowy locks any more.

sunday snap #31.

#1. I really don't have anything to post this week because I haven't been up to much. I feel like such a lazy bum. I went out friday for two of my guy friends birthdays... We went to this 80s/90s bar and danced to some old songs.... Trip down memory lane lol. These two guys thought they were cool enough to have a dance off, one of my friends Sarah just blazed them away when she pushed them our of the way and went straight down into the splits. It was actually rather funny!

#2. I went to a medium show today in my town... Seriously was in two minds to go considering the last time I went the mediums were so right about my life that it actually freaked me out a bit (especially because I'm incredibly skeptical when it comes to them). Ended up going and having a good day out with my friend... Plus a goodie bag hahaha!

#3. This coming week posts are going to be a bit sparse because I'm going to be doing a lot of things outside of blogging to try and get ready for my holiday in July (yeah, I'm still doing that). Apologies in advance now. I'm going to try and do some as many different posts ahead of time to make sure my blog doesn't lack too much (even though I feel like this is cheating) but I want turn over to still be okay. Hope this doesn't annoy any of you readers (followers or not).

Saturday Style Steal #5

This week's style steal goes to American actress Rachel Bilson, best known for her role as Summer in popular teen show, The OC.

Arguably this outfit is definitely not one I should be "promoting" per-say considering it's definitely more of an autumn/fall look but I just couldn't resist considering I'm more of a girl who lives for fashion in colder months. Rachel Bilson's outfit is such a classic outfit that never fails in looking god even if you have actually just picked the clothes up from your bedroom floor and thrown them on. Definitely one to take note of for the cooler months without doubt.

wednesday wants #5 - skater skirt

More and more recently I have noticed that the skater skirt has been gracing many high street stores both in hand and online. Being a favourite of mine I decided to see how I could style this item of clothing which appears a must have for spring/summer 2011.

1. River Island Pink Mini Skater Skirt £29.99
2. Miss Selfridge Light Wash Crop Denim Gilet £35.00
3. Topshop Off White Grosgrain Bow Vest £15.00
4. ASOS Pleat Corner Clutch £20.00
5. ASOS Woven Triangle Dreamcatcher Drop Earrings £10.00
6. Steve Madden Caged Shoes £58.00

One could easily say that skate style skirts are more about casual wear but when thrown together with other clothing items they can be turned into night wear. The length of the skirt is key to this as seen by this mini-length skater skirt by River Island. The pink mini would contrast well against bare legs or tights and when worn with a denim gilet gives more of and casual edgy look to an otherwise sleek, babydoll outfit.

1. River Island Pink Print Mid Length Skater Skirt £34.99
2. River Island White Cut Out Front Clutch Bag £26.99
3. Topshop Green Flecked Roll Sleeve Pocket Tee £15.00
4. Miss Selfridge Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses £10.00
5. Topshop Tabolt Off White Mesh High Top Trainers £20.00

A garden party or BBQ are where I always imagine I would wear a skater style skirt, especially one like this floral mid length item again from River Island. This style is easily one that can be dressed down with pumps and a cute t-shirt without looking like you have tried hard or not tried at all. The mid-length reveals enough leg without giving too much away and is definitely perfect for day wear, screaming spring/summer as it does.

1. Miss Selfridge Black Ponti Skater Skirt £24.00
2. Topshop Ivory Faux Leather Trim Boucle Jacket £65.00
3. River Island Light Cream Vest £19.99
4. River Island Black Mix Leather Satchel Bag £49.99
5. River Island Black Peep Toe Patent Court Shoes £39.99
6. River Island Black Pyramid Stud Earrings £5.99

Not only for causal style skater skirts could easily grace the office. The black colour is a staple and when teamed with this gorgeous tweed coat from Topshop, youthful sophistication lingers. Although to achieve this look I would say a neutral based palette is best as florals can often appear garish and almost too statement.

jeans: h&m
rings (l-r): F21, h&m, topshop, primark

I'm really sorry for the bra showing.. oh dear, fashion faux pas or what?! I usually wear vests under these tops, maybe my laziness just got the better of me this time around. Anyway lets just pretend I'm not flashing and give me a round of applause due to the fact that I've actually posted an outfit! I went a bit mad a couple of weeks ago on sheer shirts and the whole trend that hit the high street. Lets just say I spent far too much money on stuff etc etc... I'm thinking it's the story of my life, particularly of late.

I'm probably gonna try and take a little break from the internet and only use it for main things. Of course blogging is one of those but I have a lot of things I want to accomplish this year and sometimes the internet can waste a lot of time. So what that means for blogging, it it will probably be a little bit sparse but I'll try as hard as I can to get some things up. I don't want to neglect this/my writing.

Bafta Best Dressed 2011

More often than not these awards do's are becoming incredibly boring with everyone pulling out the stops and calling every stylist known to man to make sure they look good - well baring The Only Way Is Essex cast that is! (I think that's a whole different post though!) The BAFTA's to me have always been classic, left, right and centre dress after dress and suit after suit exhumes elegance and I have to say quite a few didn't disappoint.

(l-r) Presenter Cat Deeley in Christian Dior, This is England '86 actress Vicky McClure in Alberta Ferretti, The Only Way Is Essex's Lydia Bright, E4's Inbetweeners star Hannah Tointon in Valentino, and Amy Nuttall in BIBA.

Cat Deeley and Vicky McClure for me were the creme de la creme in different, yet slightly similar ways. Vicky chose an Alberta Ferretti dress that screamed classic, matching it with accessories that were understated but with just enough dazzle to sparkle for more than five minutes. Seriously Essex girl take not - Vicky is definitely a walking advert that less is more and it completely works. She looked gorgeous, how I and maybe many others expect BAFTA-goers to dress like. Whilst Cat Deeley did exactly the same but in a more on trend way, lace being the leading fabric of her Christian Dior LBD (LONG black dress), the red lip allowed her to appear flirty at the same time as structured.

I am going to comment on one Essex girl, Lydia Bright who dazzled in a silver-grey dress. Out of all four Essex girls, in my opinion, Lydia is the best fashion wise. She let her dress do the talking, rather than piling on copious amounts of fake tan, letting herself become dripped in Cubic Zirconia and backcombed her hair to high heave. Like the other Lydia did a less if more look, (more being the key word), with a twist playing it down. Taking in what I said earlier, I would still give her dress a thumbs up because it was pretty and she wore it well.

Gone are the blisters, the burning feet, the tumbles and falls... It looks like Scholle's party feet could go bust! Spotted on multiple spring/summer 2011 fashion week runways was the 'flatform', spring's (and a small amount of summer's) hottest new shoe trend. The 'flatform' is essentially a hybrid between a flat shoe and the complete opposite skyscraper platform and was a spring/summer must have (proving a sell out with Prada) at big name shoes such as Chanel, Prada, Michael Kors and Alexander Wang. Here are the three cheapest pairs I could find because believe or not this is trend that appears to have not been fully snapped up by the high street yet.... That's maybe a sign?

sunday snap #30.

#1. It's really late but I wanted to post my usual weekend roundup. I've just come back from my friend's for a little catch up and chat - which was nice. This week really feels like it's flown by, I've been busying working out, keeping on top of things, job hunting, getting ready for my holiday in Ibiza (which is like six weeks away!! AHHH!), spending money of clothes, returning those said/bought clothes, chilling, writing, working out some more. I've done a lot of stuff, even though it feels like I haven't. I seriously cannot wait to crawl into bed.

#2. If it's not ombre hair then it's something else, my new current "want" is getting my tragus pierced. I'm in two minds because sometimes it looks nice and then other times it doesn't. Then I get on the internet and start googling things about pain and what happens if it get infected etc etc.. and then I don't want it. The next two weeks fly by and I see someone with it done and then the craze starts all over again. Seriously being so indecisive is badddddddd.

#3. Can't believe it's the end of the footballing season. I'm actually quite gutted. I like watching sports, which when looking at me you might not believe considering I always like shopping, painting my nails, getting my hair done etc.. I'm quite a girly girl. But seriously, I like going to football matches, watching cricket, playing badminton and the end of the footballing season is just another thing that's over.

#4. Seriously, we're almost half way through 2011 already. How did that happen? Why is everything going by so fast? I edging closer to turning twenty which makes me feel old. Whilst on paper it doesn't really read old, but when you say it, it so is! :(

#5. You know when I said I was going to have an internet ban, this weekend has actually forced me into taking one. Sky Internet is terrible, end of story. My router hasn't been connecting to my wireless and it's just be unnecessary stress so I decided to stay away from the computer and only use it when I needed to. I actually liked it because it allowed me to do other things like catch up on TV, write things, just listen to music. The Internet takes up so much time, and what are you doing when you're using it - absolutely nothing! I think I'm gonna keep it up...

Saturday Style Steal #4

This week's style steal goes to Disney actress and singer Selena Gomez.

Selena Gomez takes two key trends of this season, White and Colour Blocking, and matches the two of them perfectly into one outfit. With a tan to die for she wears her shorts easily allowing them to sit against her skin however she brings a daring edge to her virginal white with the youthful sophistication and combination of a pretty flowery top, which helps breaks up the block colours and adds feminity.

MONA DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW.

Monday morning I literally raced down to make sure I was on time for the post man. At 9am a knock on the door came and signed for my long awaited MONA Album. After seeing this band live in February at a venue with no more than 100 people the words 'long anticipated, awaited' don't cover just how much I wanted my copy of their album, stat. And of course, as expected, I wasn't disappointed.

*

For a long time rock appears to have gone out of the window. Gone are the kids picking up instruments to be like their idols, instead enter the ones who think bopping is cool and all singing voices sound like a robot. Since their arrival to the UK in July 2010, Mona have been swamped, swimming in 'hotly tipped' MTV titles and brands of all sorts and this album only strengthens that praise. If rock were to need saving then my god Mona have easily put themselves on the map as the ones to reignite passion into the argued 'dead' genre.

Armed with Ray-Bans, southern charm and drive, from relentless touring that have delivered the likes of sucker punch triple threat songs Listen To Your love, Teenager and Shooting the Moon with 100mph stage presence that can easily blow your mind. After being teased with EP after EP, tour date after tour date, to actually have studio tracks blasting into ears around the country is ridiculously fulfilling.

Opener Cloak and Dagger kicks off their self-titled debut with an interesting feel of confident plucks that could easily capture the few of a dingy bar to vast echoey arena settings. Lead vocalist Nick Brown's voice soothes like caramel, melting and at times croaking with throat-punching urgency as he delivers drawling soars.

Whilst obvious influences of Kings of Leon and U2 are peppered throughout, particularly in Lines In The Sand, the force hurled through the airwaves from strong swoon filled guitars and warm roundedness leaves little doubt that this is nothing but Mona.

Shooting the Moon (arguably one of my favourites) is torrent of massive fuzz sound that rapidly builds into a sea of head banging, festival happy, masses. Whilst Alibis (another of my favourites) and Say You Will reveal the Nashville rockers' are more than one trick ponies, showcasing emotional, impassioned sincerity.

There is no doubt about it, this album is a pulverising attack on the popular aspects of today's youth electronic music; by passionately ramming battering, melodic lyrics of love and youth with guitar led anthems that will easily sky rocket this band up the charts and rightly so!

summer sandal picks 2011

This is the time when pedicurists must be raking in the pounds, the signs in their eyes, due to us taking our feet out of hibernation thanks to sun shining down upon us (well it's supposed to be anyway, but this after all is Britain). Lets face it whether they are teamed with the on trend casual yet stylish maxi dress, or polished with an office pencil skirt sandals add that extra something to our British high hopes of a hot summer. So for those of us who want to update our collection but adding a new pair, or three, of sandals here are some of the favourites that caught my eye both on the high street and high end.

wednesday wants #4

There's not really been many high street stores catching my eye of late. Miss Selfridges I thought wouldn't fail me, but when I knew Topshop had I should of stepped away then. I found a couple of things that I liked especially the turquoise ring that is pictured. Jewellery and accessories are definitely my weakness so most likely this will just be one of those things I admire from afar.

It almost seems inevitable that every celebrity and their Mom dabbles in fashion at some point in their career and Diana Vickers is the most recent to do so. Revealing her retro fashion label for Very.co.uk, which has also worked with the likes of Fearne Cotten and Holly Willoughby, Diana clearly takes inspiration from the 60s. Producing an eight piece collection which plays on her initials, called "Dee V", which is seen incorporating pastel shades, floral prints and very Madmen inspired clothing cuts of mid-length hemlines and A-line cuts.

I have to say that I am incredibly captured by this collection especially the playsuit that could easily become a classic piece, from the cut alone, for a long time to come - easily dressed up and down in summer. The cute patterns helps too! Whilst the jeans pictured will flatter even the fuller figure. Diana is obviously trying to include everyone in her creations, which is honestly refreshingly and nice to see.

Beauty Tuesday #3

Stretch marks, often linked to pregnancy or constant weight loss and gain, are arguably frowned upon and can lead to lack of confidence. In today's beauty tuesday I will give some tips, that may be already known but seen to work, and hopefully irradicate this feeling.

#1. Feed your body right. Green leafy vegetables, fruits especially tomatoes, dairy products and organ meats amongst a balanced diet can help keep skin healthy and less prone to loss of elastane.

#2. Drinking water. In order to keep our skin hydrating and to stop is becoming dry which can lead to seperation and loss of elastane water is essential.

#3. Herbal remedies. Cocoa butter, aloe vera and lavender oil are known remedies to help prevent or ease the look of stretch marks on the skin.

#4. If all else fails we have the use of makeup or concealer. There are a variety of shades that can cover up the scars and help blend the skin together.

sunday snap #29.

#1. Handed in my final assignment this week which means that my first year of uni is officially over. It's actually a scary thought and means I'm one step closer to no longer being a teenager. It makes me laugh really how when kids are kids they want to be 18 or older and then when you finally get there you want to be that kid all over again. Why is it that humans always want what they can't have?

#2. I'm trying to cut down my internet use as much as possible. It seems to me that all I do is either sit in front of the computer or television watching shows, browsing Facebook or doing something completely irrelevant. This summer break I want to actually have achieved something by the time I go back to university, whether I know what this is, which I clear don't, is another story but as long as I set myself some goals and finish some if not most of them then I'll be happy.

#3. Really getting over the layout of the blog. Want to create a new template so I'm trying hard to get my head around HTML all over again. I haven't been near coding in such a long time so it's like new territory for me but I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things. Hopefully anyway!

#4. Please tell me I wasn't the only one who stayed in to watch Eurovision over the weekend?! Hahaha... Blue used to be my favourite band and I had the biggest crush on Lee Ryan. I'll openly admit that I think my love for them has come back all over again. I'll definitely buy tickets to see them on tour if they do one. I was gutted that we didn't get into the top five but I think they did themselves proud and us, I guess... Haha!

Saturday Style Steal #3

This week's style steal goes to Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester.

Leighton takes this simple outfit and makes it her own by keeping it that way. By keeping a semi-high neckline with barely any leg she allows key pieces to take the limelight, in this case her leopard print shoes. Clearly Leighton knows how to dress her body, bringing emphasis upon her tiny waist with the block colouring and contrasting between the two choice colour of clothing. Obviously taking chic, and sophisticated ideas from her Gossip Girl character Brooke is working in her favour.

look-book #3

First of all thank goodness blogger is back. Not pleased that my Cannes Post from yesterday has gone walkies though. Hopefully it will come back soon when blogger actually get itself back into gear. Anyway this weeks lookbook is focusing on yet another trend that has hit the highstreet. of course this is tribal/aztec prints, which hopefully brings out the animal in you.

Whilst this outfit could be considered too matchy matchy, the soft greys picked out from the print not only contrast perfectly but compliment the key item of clothing, the skirt.

For me Warehouse's dress is spot on for both causal and something when dressed with the right accessories would be perfect for a wedding. Due to the OTT pattern the simple tan sandals and straw hat complete the outfit without making it brassy.

Probably my favourite outfit out of all the three chosen today the causal emphasis of these clothing items not only gives a quirky edge but is something that could be thrown on and still look great. Perfect for summer and a no nonsense attitude I can see and abundance of girls wearing this type of outfit to 2011 festivals.
